Joey Freitas
Principal/5-8 Grade Teacher
Mr. Joey Freitas has been at Mauna Loa School for ten years with over 20 years of teaching experience. For six of those years, he served as headteacher of the Kona Adventist Christian School in Captain Cook, Hawai'i. Mr. Freitas grew up in Hilo and attended Mauna Loa School from grades 5-8. After attending and graduating from Hawaiian Mission Academy, he earned a B.S. in Physical Education from Pacific Union College in Angwin, California in 1995. In 2007 he received an M.A. in Teaching and in 2019 an M.A. in School Administration from La Sierra University in Riverside, California.
