Hilo SDA Tuition Assistance

Metrics used for calculating assistance:

  1. Assistance - Desire is that parents to pay half of tuition. A minimum of 10%/maximum %50 tuition assistance per child. TADS is used to determine financial need

  2. If financial analysis determines that a family cannot afford anything for tuition, assistance will be at the maximum of %50

  3. If financial analysis determines that a family can afford to pay full tuition, assistance will be given at the minimum 10% (The Hilo SDA Church desires to financial help all children attend MLS)

  4. Additional Assistance - If any family needs additional assistance they may request for more

MLS Budget - Due March 1, needed for upcoming year starting July 1:

  1. Conference Subsidy

  2. Subsidy from Constituent Churches

  3. Teacher Billing for New Year

  4. Taskforce Living Expense

  5. Hourly Workers

  6. Tuition Rate sheet perhaps Nov, Dec.

  7. Cars

Open Enrollment- ?

  • Before completely open, treasurer must open the financial term in FACTS as well

  • Possibly have a tentative calendar so when adding new year able to input start dates?

March- Budgets Due

August-

Tutition Rates - Must discuss during board meeting to submit to Kamehameha in Dec and to post on our website for following year


October- Early Enrollment Begins ($20)


Endowments/Investments

Yozo Endo- Distributed funds may be used for scholarships, library materials, new textbooks, promotion/advertising  or school equipment.  Principal funds may also be used for capital projects that will clearly benefit the schools in perpetuity, or for scholarships if needed to provide sufficient students to keep the schools operational.  Such decisions for the release of principal funds are to be made by the Executive Committee of the Hawaii Conference after recommendations are received from the respective principals, local school boards, and the Hawaii Conference K-12 Board of Education.
